Salt Lick Contest Rules
All entries must be salt blocks licked by cows or other livestock. Range blocks licked by wildlife will also be permitted. Blocks licked by humans will not be permitted. Licks may also be subject to DNA testing. Blocks with human DNA will be eliminated and offenders banned from future contests.
Please include the following information with your entry:
• Ranch and/or person representing animal
• Contact: phone or address
• Type of cattle, horse, sheep, goat, elephant or, whatever
• Name or number of animal
• Name of sculpture (a good name could help you win)
Please state which category you are entering your block in: General, With a Poem, Best Forgery.
1 block only per person. No repeat blocks from previous auctions.
Send or deliver entries to Crossroads Art Center, 2020 Auburn Ave., Baker City Oregon
Or, if you want a free replacement block for your entry, deliver it to either Richland/Halfway Feed & Seed, Richland, Oregon

The contest is currently accepting entries. The deadline for submissions will be September 17. After that only bribes will be taken with entries. The auction will take place September 24, Saturday, 6 PM Crossroads Art Center in Baker. Keating’s own Mib Daily will, as usual, be the auctioneer. Judging committee will judge blocks for originality and artistic flair. All different types of blocks are eligible (mineral, selenium etc.) Blocks only. Drawings, photos, paintings of sculpted blocks will not be accepted. Contest will be taken with a grain of salt. Proceeds from the auction go to the Parkinson’s Center, Oregon Health Science University.
There will be at least $1000 prize money
Prizes will be for first, second and, third, fourth, peoples’ choice, best forgery and, best poem accompanied by a block.
Cows caught using steroids will be canned.
Mad cows will be eligible for psychiatric treatment.
